Man Identified in Fatal I-95 Crash

Virginia State Police are awaiting notification for next of kin for the second fatal crash.

Virginia State Police have released the identity of one victim from one of this morning’s fatal crashes on Interstate 95.

At 4:31 a.m. Monday, Virginia State Police Trooper K. Terry responded to a single-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 at the 154-mile marker in Prince William County.

“A 2006 Ford E350 Econoline van was traveling south on I-95 when the driver lost control of the vehicle,” said VSP public relations director Corinne Geller in an email. “The van ran off the left side of the interstate, hit the guardrail and overturned at least two times. The van came to rest on its side.”

In the van, there were a total of nine passengers and one driver. The van was traveling from Gaithersburg, MD to Richmond and is owned by Demolition and Hauling in Gaithersburg, said Geller.

Three passengers were ejected from the van, one of them died at the scene and two were transported to Fairfax Inova Hospital.

The passenger that died was identified by VSP as Marciso A. Campos, 43, of Alexandria.

Five other passengers and the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to One passenger was not injured and refused treatment, said Geller.

“The driver, Job J. Diaz-Lemus, 29, of Gaithersburg, MD, was wearing a seat belt,” said Geller. “He has been charged with reckless driving. The trooper’s investigation determined that the van’s speed was too fast for existing road conditions.”

At 7:45 a.m. this morning, VSP responded to a three-vehicle chain-reaction case on I-95 in the northbound lanes just south of the Dale City exit. Northbound lanes on I-95 were reopened by 9:38 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Geller said there was one confirmed fatality and at least one other person has been transported to Potomac Hospital. Geller said they are still waiting for more details on this case.
