Man Wanted for Stabbing in Woodbridge

Prince William County Police have identified a suspect in a malicious wounding incident between two known family members on Saturday.

Police responded to the 4500 block of Shotwell Court in Woodbridge on Saturday just before 5 p.m. where a 33-year-old Alexandria man told police he was approached by an unknown man who attacked him. The attacker allegedly stabbed the man in the torso and struck him in the head with a hammer.

The victim was flown to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Bureau identified the suspect as Joseph Atney Judkins, 21, of no fixed address. Their investigation revealed that the suspect and the victim were family members and that the victim was staying with other members of the family at a residence on Shotwell Court.

The suspect initially went to the residence earlier in the day, but left, police said. 

“The suspect returned to the residence and entered through an open window without permission,” said police public information officer Jonathan Perok. “It was inside the residence that the altercation took place. After being stabbed, the victim walked down the street to get help and encountered the caller who contacted police.”

Attempts to locate Judkins have been unsuccessful. Warrants have been obtained for the man, who is wanted for malicious wounding and burglary. 

He is described as a 6-foot-tall black male weighing about 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
