Mob Assault, Robbery Charges in Dumfries Incident

Prince William County Police says five involved in strong-arm robbery. One suspect has been arrested.

Prince William County Police has apprehended one suspect in a Dumfries incident that allegedly involved five men assaulting and robbing a pedestrian on a street in Dumfries earlier this month.

Travis Austin Wilder Brathwaite, 26, of Swans Creek Lane, is charged with robbery and assault by mob. He is expected in court Aug. 3 and currently held without bond.

Officers responded to the area of American Elm Court and Yew Grove Place at 11 p.m. June 11. The victim told police that he was walking in the area when a vehicle approached him. Three men got out of the vehicle an allegedly began to chase the victim, according to police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok.

"The victim attempted to run away but the men caught up to him. A fourth male occupant exited the vehicle and knocked the victim to the ground," Perok said in a statement.

The men allegedly stole two cell phones and a wallet with cash inside, Perok said. The victim had minor injuries. A fifth suspect was allegedly driving the vehicle.

Wilder Brathwaite was arrested on June 12 in relation to the incident. The investigation continues, according to Perok.
