Owner of Braids, Weaves and Gifts Charged With Sexual Battery

The reported victim was a 17-year-old job applicant.

Police have charged Steven Garey, of Woodbridge, with sexual battery after a 17-year-old Woodbridge female told police she was inappropriately touched while trying to apply for a job at Garey's business, Braids, Weaves and Gifts, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. 

Police responded on Aug. 31 at 5:20 p.m. to a report of a sexual assault at the Braids, Weaves and Gifts at 1455 Old Bridge Rd. 

The victim told police that she was trying to apply for a job.

"Once inside, the accused, the owner of the business, guided her to a back room where he inappropriately touched the victim," Perok said. "The victim was able to leave the business and contact police. Following an investigation, the accused was subsequently arrested."

Garey, 51, was charged with sexual battery. His court date is unavailable. He is being held on a $1,000 secured bond.
