Pedestrian Killed in Vehicle Collision on Old Bridge Road

Police say speed and alcohol were not factors in this crash.

Woodbridge resident Anthony Hood was killed in a crash involving a vehicle last night on Old Bridge Road, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.

Hood was reportedly crossing Old Bridge Road near Troupe Street when he stepped in front of the driver of a 1999 Mercury Sable Wagon going east.

"The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he died," Perok said. "The driver of the Mercury remained at the scene. Speed and alcohol are not factors in this collision. The pedestrian was crossing the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk."

Police responded to the scene at 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday.

No one else was injured. The driver of the Mercury Sable Wagon was a 23-year-old Manassas man.

Very sad. That section of Old Bridge Road where the accident occurred has several traffic signals, cross walks and pedestrian crossing buttons/walk indicators that were installed in the past few years. I drive that section almost every day and pedestrians don't use the lights and crosswalks and but rather run across lanes of traffic and walk on the median. Part of the reason is bus stops are not at corners but In the middle of the block so people dont want to walk to the corner, they just run across the road.
