Police: Dumfries Man Charged With Rape

Victim told police she awoke to find suspect raping her, according to Prince William County Police.

A Dumfries woman woke up to find an acquaintance raping her, Prince William County Police said. 

MC Stewart, 22, of Wilson Street in Dumfries, is charged with rape. 

Detectives from the Special Victim's Bureau responded on Sunday at 8:45 a.m. to a report of a rape on Saturday.

"The investigation revealed that the victim, a 25 year old woman of Dumfries, was asleep when she awoke to the accused raping her," Officer Jonathan Perok, a spokesman for the police department, said in a press release. "The accused is known to the victim and the assault took place at the residence of the suspect."

After an investigation, officers arrested Stewart. His court date was unavailable at time of publication.
