Police: Escaping Burglar Runs Through Glass Door, Crashes Through Window

Desperate run ends in arrest, according to Prince William County Police.

A suspect is behind bars after crashing through a glass door and a closed window in his effort to escape arrest Monday, according to Prince William County Police.

Mike Lewis Watson, 28, of no fixed address, is charged with burglary, attempted burglary, destruction of property and possession of
a schedule I or II narcotic.

At 5:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a home in the 16100 block of Taconic Circle in Dumfries regarding a burglary in progress. The
homeowner told police that an unknown man was attempting to enter
the home.

Officers spotted Watson standing on top of a fence to another home on the same block a few houses down, according to police spokesperson officer Jonathan Perok.

"Officers challenged the suspect who immediately jumped from the fence, ran through the backyard, and smashed through the rear sliding glass door to the residence," Perok said in a statement. "Once inside, the man ran through the
residence and smashed through a front window of the home before fleeing on foot."

Several officers searched the area, discovering Watson near Fortuna Center Plaza off Dumfries Road.

Watson sustained minor injuries as a result of breaking through the glass door and window, according to police.

His court date is May 28. Watson is being held without bond.
