Police Make Arrest in Islamic Center Burglary

Break-in at Islamic Community Center of Northern Virginia on Feb. 14. Prince William County Police had been searching for suspect since Feb. 19.

North Carolina Police have apprehended a suspect in the Feb. 14 burglary of the Islamic Community Center of Northern Virginia, according to Prince William County Police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

Andrew Charles Chambers, 49, is charged with burglary. His court date and bond information are unavailable.

Police responded to the community center at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 14 to a call of a burglary in progress.

A witness said he was in the office of the Mosque when an unknown man forced his way in through a locked door. When confronted by the witness, the suspect reportedly fled. No property was missing.

Chambers was identified as a suspect Feb. 15 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Law enforcement in North Carolina identified Chambers and arrested him on March 1, according to Perok. He will be extradited back to Prince William County.
