Police: Malicious Wounding at Denny's Parking Lot on Route 1

The victim was shot in the head.

Police are investigating a possible malicious wounding at Denny's early Saturday morning on Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. 

A 25-year-old Woodbridge man reportedly got into a fight with a group of unknown people in the Denny's parking lot at 13775 Jefferson Davis Hwy. at about 2 a.m. on July 28.

The fight reportedly intensified, and the victim tried to leave in his vehicle.

"As the victim was in his vehicle, an unknown person fired at the vehicle, striking the victim in the head," Perok said. 

After the shooting, the victim drove himself to a local hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Police do not believe this incident to be random, and they are investigating it as a malicious wounding and an unlawful discharge of a firearm.
