Police: Man Charged With Abduction After Breaking Into Woman's Home

The victim woke up to find the suspect inside her room, and he coerced her into giving him a ride to the Triangle area, Prince William County Police said.

Officers arrested a man after he forced his way inside the home of an acquaintance and made her give him a ride to the Triangle area, Prince William County Police said.

Warren Lee Alonzo Carter, 38, of no fixed address, is charged with burglary and abduction.

Police responded on Saturday at 12:42 a.m. to the 3200 block of John Robinson Lane in Dumfries, where a 36-year-old woman reported the incident. She told police that she was inside her home when she woke up to find Carter inside her room.

"The investigation revealed that the accused had forced his way into the residence through the front door. Once inside, the accused entered the victim’s bedroom and demanded a ride," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said in a news release.

The woman agreed to give him a ride to Triangle Shopping Plaza "to avoid a confrontation," Perok said. Once they arrived, the man got out of the vehicle and the victim contacted police. The man returned to the scene during the investigation and was arrested, police said.

Carter is held without bond pending his court date.
