Police: Man Charged With Attempting to Strangle Woodbridge Woman

He was also charged with resisting arrest.

Woodbridge resident Oscar Herrera, 21, has been charged with strangulationassault & battery on a LEO, and resisting arrest.

Police responded to the 14600 block of Jefferson Davis Highway on Nov. 19 at 12:30 a.m. for the report of a domestic incident. The victim told police that she and the accused were in an altercation which became heated.

"During the encounter, the accused began to choke the victim. Officers arrived, separated the two parties, and attempted to arrest the accused," Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said in a release. "The accused resisted arrest and attempted to flee on foot. Officers were able to catch up to and detain the accused, at which point, he struck one of the officers to her shoulder. Minor injuries were reported by the victim and no injuries were reported by the officer. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested."

Herrera's court date is Jan. 8. He is being held without bond.
