Police: Man Faked Hit-and-Run Crash

Man intentionally jumped onto the hood of a vehicle driven by his friend, Prince William County Police said.

A man who told police he was dragged 15 feet by a driver in a hit-and-run crash actually staged the incident by jumping on the hood of a friend's car, Prince William County Police said.

Danys Alexander Guevara, 21, of Lynn Street in Woodbridge, is now wanted for filing a false police report. His friend, David Israel Arroyo-Aleaga, 21, of Ashby Court in Woodbridge, is charged with reckless driving and filing a false police report.

Guevara had initially told police that he was walking by Walnut Street and Colchester Road on July 15, when a Chevy sedan hit him and sped off through a red light. Instead, Guevara had "intentionally jumped onto the hood of a vehicle being driven by his friend, Arroyo Aleaga," said police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok.

Perok said that he was unaware of why Guevara would report a false hit-and-run, but that Guevara was run over after he fell from the vehicle.

Arroyo-Aleaga's court date is set for Sept. 3.
