Police: Officer Assaulted During Narcotics Arrests

An officer was reportedly struck in the chest while arresting two suspects at the Inns of Virginia in Woodbridge, Prince William County Police said.

A police officer was reportedly assaulted and a police cruiser damaged during the arrests of two suspects in a narcotics investigation on Feb. 26, Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. 

Wyatt Jamal Hessing, 23, of Dale City, was charged with assault & battery on LEO and possession with intent to distribute a schedule I or II narcotic. Katelyn Leanne Kilpatrick, 20, of Remington, was charged with falsely summoning the policepossession with intent to distribute a schedule I or II narcotic, and destruction of property. Their court dates and bond information are unavailable. 

Police initially responded on Feb. 26 at 4:40 a.m. to the Inns of Virginia at 951 Annapolis Way for the report of a disturbance. The caller told police that someone at the motel was screaming for someone to contact 9-1-1.

"Officers arrived and made contact with the room and its two occupants," Perok said. "While speaking to the occupants, narcotics were discovered inside the room. Following the investigation, both occupants were arrested. After being sat in a police cruiser, the accused, Hessing, head butted an officer to the chest."

The officer was not injured.

"While in the backseat of another cruiser the accused, Kilpatrick, kicked the window in the back seat causing about $1,500 in damage to the window and door frame area," Perok said. "Further investigation revealed that Kilpatrick was the occupant who was screaming inside the room and that she did not need police."
