Police arrested and charged a Woodbridge man on Sunday after a pursuit from Interstate 95 to Montclair.

Prince William County police reports said that an officer was notified of a stolen vehicle traveling on I-95 via the automatic license plate reader on Sunday evening.

Police said the officer followed the vehicle off of I-95 onto Route 234 where the officer tried to make a vehicle stop near Four Seasons Drive in Montclair.

Reports said the driver allegedly ignored the officer’s emergency equipment, lights and siren by continuing on Route 234 near Waterway Drive when the driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to make a right turn on to the street.

The suspect’s vehicle struck another occupied vehicle while the driver was waiting at the intersection, police said. The driver of the other car was uninjured. As a result of the crash, the car was inoperable. Police said both occupants bailed out of the vehicle.

Additional officers responded to the scene and located the passenger on Waterway Drive where he was taken into custody without further incident. Police identified the passenger as Victor Manuel Xalteno, 20, from Woodbridge. Xalteno was allegedly in the possession of alcohol at the time of the arrest, police said.

Police also found a “suspicious suspect,” a 16-year-old male, in the area of Loggerhead Place and Spotted Turtle Court. Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said the teen is believed to have been the driver in the stolen vehicle. Charges have not been placed on the teen at the time police released information Tuesday afternoon; an investigation continues.

Xalteno was charged by police with possession of stolen property and possession of alcohol by a minor. His court date is set for May 9 and he is held without bond, police said.
