Police Reports: Church Door Pried Open, Narcotics Arrest, Brandishing

New Life Church Burglarized 

Police reported to New Life Church off of Minnieville Road around 4 p.m. on Wednesday for a report of an opened door.

When police arrived, two rear doors were discovered open, one of which was pried open. No items were reported missing and police do not know the time frame of when the church was entered.

Woodbridge Man Charged with Brandishing

Police arrested a Woodbridge man Wednesday evening following an alleged altercation between the suspect and a known acquaintance.

Police responded to the 4900 block of Frishman Court where a 37-year-old Woodbridge man told police he and the accused, Mark Joseph Rodriguez, were in a verbal altercation. The man told police that Rodriguez allegedly displays a handgun and threatened him. Rodriguez, 32, fled the scene prior to police arrival but was located a short distance away, police said. He was taken into custody without further incident and the handgun was recovered.

Rodriguez is charged with brandishing and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His court date is set for March 19 and he is held on a $3,500 secured bond. 

Narcotics Investigation Yields Drug Charges for Woodbridge Man

Prince William County Police detectives ended a narcotics investigation into the selling of cocaine in marijuana with the arrest of a Woodbridge man Wednesday. 

Marvin Charles Bates, 30, is charged with two counts of distribution of marijuana, two counts of distribution of schedule I or II narcotic (cocaine/ecstasy) and possession of a schedule I or II narcotic (Percocet/oxycodone). Bates was arrested following the execution of a search warrant at his residence. Police said during the search evidence supporting distribution was recovered. 

Bates has a court date set for April 13 and he is held without bond.
