Police: Teacher Charged With Assault at Fred Lynn Middle School

Victim, 13, has minor injury to his arm in classroom incident, Prince William County Police said.

Police have charged a Fred Lynn Middle School teacher with assault after a student told school officials that he had been assaulted in class on Tuesday, Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.

Curtis Craig Smith, 61, of Woodbridge, was arrested and charged with assault and battery Wednesday, after School Resource Unit officers investigated the assault report.

Investigators claim Smith assaulted the victim, a 13-year old boy of Woodbridge, during class, Perok said. "The student reported the incident to school officials on April 10 which prompted the investigation," he said. "The victim sustained a minor injury to his arm."

Smith's photo is unavailable. His court date is also unavailable, and he was released on a court summons.
