Police: Teacher Charged With Assault of Student

Donald Gallitz on leave from Forest Park High School since April.

A high school girls basketball coach is accused of assaulting a male student more than once during a 3-month period, according to Prince William County Police.

Donald Laverne Gallitz, 41, of 3680 Stonewall Manor Dr in Triangle, is charged with 3 counts of assault & battery. Gallitz was released on a summons.

According to police, officers began an investigation April 4 regarding accusations that Gallitz had assaulted one of his 17-year-old male students on school grounds more than once between November 2013 and January 2014.

A TV production instructor, Gallitz was placed on leave in early April, according to The Washington Post. Police charged the teacher Monday. A court date was not released.

InsideNova noted that Gallitz had faced a 2012 accusation that he assaulted a player during a girls basketball game, but that charge was later dropped.
