Police: Teen Dosed With Non-Prescribed Meds

After teen falls at school, female family member charged with child abuse.

A Dale City woman has been arrested after a teen stumbled and fell at school while under the influence of non-prescribed medication, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.

Samantha Dee Walsh, 33, was charged with two counts of child abuse and neglect, and two counts of distributing a schedule III or IV narcotic to a minor. She is being held without bond.

Detectives from the Special Victims Bureau and Child Protective Services investigated a report of child abuse and neglect Jan. 28 on Ferndale Road.

"Detectives learned that the victim, a 15-year-old male of Woodbridge, was having trouble walking and fell while in school," Perok said. "The investigation revealed that the accused, a family member, gave the victim non-prescribed medication over the course of two days prior to the incident."

Police executed a search warrant at the house and reportedly found evidence. After the investigation, the accused was arrested, and the victim and two other children were put in foster care.
