Police: Homicide Suspect in Custody After Manhunt

Man wanted on homicide charges in Pennsylvania, according to Prince William County Police.

A homicide suspect has been captured, ending an hours-long manhunt through a Manassas suburb, according to Prince William County Police.

Police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok updated the public just after 8 p.m. that Earl Patrick Mitchell, 20, was in custody. Mitchell is wanted on homicide charges in Pennsylvania.

The first notice at 3 p.m. put a community on alert after Mitchell abandoned his car during a Manassas Police pursuit in the area of Prince William Pkwy and Tattersall Dr.

It was unclear to police whether he was armed. What followed was a manhunt on foot, with assistance from K-9s and helicopters.

One Lake Jackson community was blocked off and homes were only accessible with a police escort.

Some students remained at nearby Bennett Elementary School until after 7 p.m. as they waited to be released to parents.
