Police: Woodbridge Man Charged With Malicious Wounding and Abduction

Police have charged Woodbridge resident Wilbur Reed, 33, with malicious wounding and abduction after a Woodbridge woman reported that she had been struck and prevented from leaving a Woodbridge residence, Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.

Police initially responded to Bayside Avenue in Woodbridge on Sept. 16 at 4:36 p.m. for the report of a domestic dispute.

"The victim, a 58-year-old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated," Perok said. "During the encounter, the accused struck the victim multiple times to her face. At one point, the accused used physical force to prevent the victim from leaving the residence to get help. Eventually the victim was able to break free of the accused and flee the residence. The victim was able to flag down a neighbor who then contacted police."
