Police: Woodbridge Teen Arrested in Dumfries Carjacking

A Dumfries man was reportedly making a deposit when three men approached him, according to the Prince William County Police.

A 16-year-old Woodbridge male is one of two suspects charged with robbery and grand larceny after a man was reportedly robbed at knifepoint while he was making a desposit at the Bank of America on Graham Park Road in Dumfries, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.

Both suspects arrested were minors. The other suspect is a Dumfries male. A third suspect has not yet been identified.

Police initially respondedat 11:20 p.m. Monday to the 4000 block of Graham Park Road for the report of a robbery.

"The victim, a 36-year-old man of Dumfries, reported to police that he was making a deposit at the Bank of America in the above area when three unknown men approached him," Perok said. "One of the men had a knife and demanded money from the victim. The men assaulted the victim and threw him to the ground before taking the victim’s vehicle and fleeing the area."

The victim sustained minor injuries.

"An officer spotted the vehicle as the driver ran a red light at the intersection of Dale Boulevard and Ashdale Avenue," Perok said. "The vehicle continued to the area of Arbor Court where the occupants fled on foot."

A K-9 unit was used in the search for the three suspects. Two of the suspects were found, and were arrested following an investigation, according to Perok.

The suspects' court dates are unavailable. They are both being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.

Having made night deposits myself, these kids either picked up on this victim's routine (mistake number 1) or the victim was so used to making this drop without incident, his guard was let down (mistake number 2). Being an open carry state, let the kids take the bag, then let them meet their maker (or is that just me?).
