PWC Police Remind Local Residents to Avoid a DUI This Halloween

Find a sober designated driver, or use SoberRide.

Prince William County Police are reminding all local residents to avoid a DUI by designating a sober driver for any Halloween parties.

"Halloween has become a dangerous and deadly time of year due to a jump in drunk driving," a release read. "More than 40 percent of the nation’s traffic fatalities that occur on Halloween night are tied to alcohol abuse."

Help protect yourself from other drunk drivers by wearing a seatbelt.

If you do not have a sober friend to drive you home, use public transit or call a cab. SoberRide is offering free taxi rides to intoxicated people from 10 p.m. on Oct. 31 to 4 a.m. on Nov. 1. The taxi ride is free up to a $30 fare. Call 1-800-200-TAXI.
