Woodbridge Crime: Toddler Found Alone in Residence

Family member charged with child neglect.

A 23-year-old Woodbridge woman faces a child neglect charge after police investigated a call to the 1400 block of Bayside Avenue on Saturday. 

Police reports said that a maintenance worker performing “routine maintenance” inside the residence at 1:50 p.m. on June 1 found a 1-year-old boy alone.

“As police were at the residence, the accused, a known family member, returned to the home,” said police public information officer Jonathan Perok in a release about the incident. “Further investigation revealed that the accused, who was supposed to be watching the child, had left the victim alone inside the residence for approximately 50 minutes.”

No injuries were reported and the child is in custody of other family members.

Alba Xiomara Palacios Guzman, 23, is charged with felony child neglect. Her court date is unavailable and she is held on a $1,500 secured bond.
