Woodbridge area firefighters fought a townhouse fire Saturday in Woodbridge, according to a release from the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Firefighters.

Units responded to 775 Monument Square and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of a townhouse unit.

"Crews entered through the front door and found significant fire in the first and second floor," according to the release. "The fire was contained with no extension to neighboring houses and the bulk of the fire was knocked down within 10 minutes."

American Red Cross is assisting the residents with temporary housing, according to the VFD. There were minor injuries and loss of family pets.  The cause of the fire is under investigation from the Fire Marshall's office.
