Truck Driver Dies in Fiery I-95 Crash

Accident closed all northbound lanes

From Virginia State Police: As of 8:25 a.m. Monday, all northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Lorton were re-opened to through traffic. However, residual delays from the lane closures continue at this time.

An accident has closed down all lanes on Interstate 95 North this morning.

The accident, involving a tractor trailer, happened just north of Lorton Road. A fully-loaded produce truck hit a Virginia Department of Transportation contractor's "cushion" truck at around 2:15 a.m. The impact ruptured a fuel tank from the tractor trailer, and a fire resulted and the driver of the produce truck was killed. A work zone worker escaped serious injury when he jumped over the Jersey Wall to avoid the crash.
