Water Main Break at U.S. Route 1

Traffic is open on one lane southbound until the water main break is resolved.

Update: 8:04 a.m. The Prince William Service Authority said that the water main break is under control and that traffic is uninterrupted. With this type of water main break, the issue is usually resovled within two hours. 

Some businesses are without water this morning due to the break.

Prince William County Police have closed one lane of U.S. Route 1 southbound due to a water main break at Mt. Pleasant Road this morning.

Police opened one lane of Route 1 at just before 7 a.m. this morning. The Prince William Service Authority is assessing the break at this time.

At around 4 a.m., the police department tweeted the water main break and asked drivers to follow police direction.

Fox 5 news is reporting that there is a 10-inch break that is considered the culprit for standing water on the roadway.
