Fire Investigators: Woman Accused of Threatening to Burn House

The suspect was released in July pending her trial for grand larceny and burglary in Prince William County.

A woman awaiting a trial for burglary and grand larceny in Prince William County is now also accused of threatening to burn down a house in Fairfax County.

Investigators with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department on Wednesday charged Ashley Nicole Milstead, 28, of Kendale Court in Dale City, with threatening to burn down a house.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue spokesman Dan Schimidt said that Milstead made the threat on Tuesday near Rolling Road in Springfield, and the department is still investigating additional aspects of the case.

Milstead was released on her own recognizance in July of this year, court records show. She was arrested on April 18 in connection with an alleged burglary on the 13300 block of Kerrydale Road in Dale City. The homeowner reported on April 19 that a laptop, gaming console, jewelry, a firearm and other items—valued around $6,500—were missing. A neighbor reported seeing a man and woman enter the home the day before.

Officers identified Milstead and another man as the suspects during an "unrelated" traffic stop April 18, before the burglary was reported, Prince William County Police said. In August, Milstead's trial date for the burglary and grand larceny charges was set for April 2, 2014.

Milstead is now held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
