The accused and the victim were reportedly in a verbal fight.

Police have charged a Woodbridge man with abduction, assault and battery, and possession of marijuana after an incident in which a Triangle woman was reportedly abducted and assaulted, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.

Police responded on Feb. 1 at 3:10 a.m. to Port Hope Point in Triangle for a reported assault.

"The victim, a 25-year-old woman of Triangle, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated," Perok said. "During the encounter, the accused pinned the victim to the ground. The victim was able to get up and attempted to leave multiple times. Each time, the accused grabbed the victim and prevented her from leaving the residence."
