The child was unharmed.

Police have charged Nana Akoanor, 48, of Woodbridge, with felony child neglect after an 8-month-old girl was found in an abandoned vehicle that had been left running on Hour Glass Drive in Dumfries, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.

Police arrived in the area of Periscope Place and Hour Glass Drive on Monday at 1:30 a.m. in response to a report of a possible crash.

"Officers arrived on scene and located an abandoned car, still running, in the middle of the road on Hour Glass Drive," Perok said. "No crash had taken place, however, an 8-month-old girl was found strapped into a child’s seat in the backseat of the vehicle."
