Woodbridge Man Charged With Striking Man With Baseball Bat

Police have charged Woodbridge resident Marvin Ayala-Urrutia with aggravated malicious wounding after a 21-year-old Woodbridge man told police he was hit with a baseball bat, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. 

Police initially responded to the 1500 block of Walnut Street on Sept. 21 at 9:25 p.m. for an assault. 

"The victim, a 21-year-old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated," Perok said. "During the encounter, the accused grabbed a baseball bat and struck the victim. The accused fled prior to police arrival. Officers set up a perimeter around the neighborhood. A police K-9 was utilized in the search and located the accused in the 1500 block of Featherstone Road."

The victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Ayala-Urrutia's court date is Oct. 24. He is being held without bond.
