Woodbridge Man Wanted For Abduction, Attempted Strangulation

A Woodbridge woman reported being assaulted and choked.

Woodbridge resident Yonata Staffney, 34, is wanted for strangulation and abduction after a Woodbridge woman reported being assaulted and choked.

Police responded to the 16700 block of Chowning Court in Woodbridge on Nov. 18 at 10:58 a.m. for the report of a domestic incident. The victim told police that she and the accused were involved in an altercation.

"During the encounter, the accused threw the victim to the floor and prevented her from leaving the residence," Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said in a release. "After a brief struggle the victim was able to break free. Later in the day, the two were involved in another altercation. During this encounter, the accused began to choke the victim. After the assault, the victim left the residence and contacted police. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants against the accused."

Staffney is described as a black man, about 6-foot-3, 275 pounds, with a heavy build, black hair and brown eyes. The photo above is from June 2012.
