Woodbridge Sex Assault Case Goes Unsolved

Prince William County Police are asking the public to come forward with any information on the Dec. 5 attack at a Woodbridge Econo Lodge.

Last December, a man reportedly tricked a motel clerk into coming outside, then forced her into a room at knifepoint and sexually assaulted her. Much to the frustration of Prince William County Police, the case has gone unsolved ever since.

Calling the case a "very troubling stranger assault," police chief Stephan Hudson is asking the public to come forward with any information on the Dec. 5 assault at the Econo Lodge on Gordon Boulevard.

The 33-year-old clerk was working that evening, when she received a phone call to let a guest into one of the rooms. In the stairwell as she was walking to the room, a masked man reportedly approached her from behind. He then reportedly forced her into the room at knifepoint, knocked her unconscious and sexually assaulted her.

Police determined through their investigation that the room the clerk was called to was vacant. The victim was not able to provide police with a further description of the man.

The case is particularly troubling to police because this kind of an attack by a stranger is rare in Prince William County. All 67 of the county's reported rapes in 2012 were by someone who was related to or acquainted with the victim, according to crime statistics recently released by the department.

"This was not a suspect that was known to the victim," said Hudson.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700 or 1-866-411-TIPS. Calls may be anonymous. Crime Solvers is offering up to a $1,000 cash reward.
