Woodbridge Teen Wounded by Gunshot in Dale City

His injuries were not life-threatening.

Police are investigating the possible malicious wounding of a 17-year-old Woodbridge male in Dale City, police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said. 

The victim told police that on July 5, he and some acquaintances began arguing with a group of unknown people. The argument became heated, and one of the unknown people reportedly pulled out a handgun. 

At this point, the victim and his acquaintances reportedly began running away, but the suspect allegedly fired several shots at the victim and his acquaintances. The victim was shot in his lower body.

The suspects then reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle before police could arrive at 8:56 p.m. The victim was taken to a local hospital for his injuries, which were not life-threatening. No one else was injured.

"The incident does not appear to be random. Investigation continues," Perok said.
