2013 President Obama Inauguration Twitter Accounts to Follow

Metro, the Secret Service, the official inauguration committee and others are on Twitter to help you navigate the 2013 presidential inauguration weekend.

Twitter can be a great way to get information on the go about inauguration weather, traffic, Metro transit, events and more on inauguration weekend.

President Barack Obama's second inauguration is this Monday, Jan. 21. He'll be sworn in privately on Sunday.

With that in mind, we’ve rounded up a list of Twitter accounts you may want to follow if you’re heading into Washington for the second inauguration of President Barack Obama, the parade, balls or any related events that weekend.

WMATA – Metro Rail and Bus

@wmata - The Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority’s official Twitter account.

@metroinaug - WMATA has also set up an inauguration-specific Twitter account that will provide useful information on traffic and transit, including updates on trains and buses.

@DDOTDC - The District of Columbia Department of Transportation's twitter account will provide traffic, transit (including Circulator bus) and information on road closures for drivers and pedestrians. 

@511northernva - On the Virginia side of the river, Virginia's Department of Transportation for the Northern Virginia area will provide traffic and accident info, as well as advice.

@DrGridlock is the Twitter name of the Washington Post’s commuter specialist.

@obamainaugural - The official Presidential Inauguration Committee twitter account primarily uses the hashtag #inaug2013.

@secretservice - Security information and other useful tips from the Secret Service's official Twitter account.

You may also sign up official inauguration event and information via text message by texting "INAUGURATION" to 888777. (Texts are free, but charges from your service provider may apply.)

@marineband - The National Marine Corps Band’s Twitter account. They'll be playing at inauguration, as they do every year. 

@PRZinauguration - This unofficial Twitter source from 2009 has come back to life for 2013.
