Board of County Supervisors to Hold Special Meeting for Redistricting

Because of an error, the previous date is no longer applicable.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors has called a special meeting for Monday, April 18, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. for the purpose of adopting a redistricting plan.

This meeting is a result of a communication received late Friday afternoon from the Prince William Electoral Board indicating a need for the Board to adopt a redistricting plan a month earlier than the originally scheduled May 17 adoption date.

The change stems from an error realized by the Electoral Board. State and federal law requires absentee ballots be available no later than 45 days prior to a Primary or General Election. This requirement was not communicated to the County during the planning process for redistricting. The letter from the Electoral Board indicates that “… the May 17, 2011, date is no longer early enough for the Board of County Supervisors to finally adopt its redistricting plan.”
