Delegate Presents Gar-Field Senior with Scholarship

Delegate Anderson presented a $8,000 scholarship to graduating senior Kacey M. Adams

senior Kacey M. Adams received an $8,000 scholarship from Delegate Rich Anderson (R-51).

Del. Anderson presented the "Emerging Leader Scholarship" on behalf of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and its Commandant of Cadets, U.S. Air Force Major General Randal D. Fullhart to Kacey at the Gar-Field Senior High School Senior Awards Night.

According to a press release from Del. Anderson, the ELS grant is valued at $8,000 and is presented to outstanding high school graduates who have a demonstrated aptitude for leadership and have been selected for entry to the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets (VTCC) at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA.

"Kacey earned her scholarship on the basis of her outstanding academic and extracurricular record of achievement. She is an International Baccalaureate (IB) candidate in Gar-Field’s IB program and has represented Gar-Field High School in statewide and national rowing competitions," said the release. "She also is dedicated to community service by helping with animal rescue activities and caring for foster dogs and puppies."

Kacey desires to earn a degree in Veterinary Science and serve her country by serving as a commissioned officer in the United States Army.
