Lingamfelter to Announce Candidacy for Lieutenant Governor

The delegate will make the announcement in Richmond on Thursday.

(R-31) will announce his candidacy for lieutenant governor Thursday in Richmond.

The press conference on his candidacy will take place in the Virginia state Capitol Thursday morning. The Washington Post first reported that Del. Lingamfelter had filed paperwork to join the race.

Lingamfelter will go up against local politician Corey Stewart, chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, for the Republican nomination for the 2013 election.

Lingamfelter is married to a Prince William County schoolteacher; the couple has three children.

The 31st district is made up of precincts in Fauquier and southern Prince William County. He has severed as a delegate since 2002.

Lingamfelter currently serves as chairman of the House Militia Police and Public Safety Committee. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee and House Education Committee.
