Obama, Bill Clinton Campaign Visit Canceled Due to Hurricane Sandy

The campaign said an event in Colorado was canceled, as well.

The Obama for America press team announced that President Barack Obama and former president Bill Clinton's campaign stop in Prince William County has been canceled.

The pair were slated to stop in Prince William County on Monday; but details about the event were not released.

An official statement from the campaign said: "Due to Hurricane Sandy, President Obama's campaign events in Prince William County, Virginia on Monday and in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Tuesday have been cancelled. As the White House announced earlier this evening, the President is being regularly updated on the storm and ongoing preparations, and he has directed his team to continue to bring all available resources to bear as state and local partners continue to prepare for the storm."

Mitt Romney's campaign also canceled a Sunday visit to Prince William County in Haymarket due to the impending storm.

In a press briefing Sunday, federal officials warned the public not to underestimate Hurricane Sandy.

"The time for preparing and talking is about over," said Craig Fugate, adminstrator for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. People need to be acting about now."

Forecasts call for Hurricane Sandy to hit Northern Virginia Monday afternoon.
