October is Cyber Security Awareness Month

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors voted to declare October a time to raise awareness about online security.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors voted Tuesday to declare October Cyber Security Awareness Month.

The local action corresponds to the national designation: for the past eight years, the president has issued declarations that proclaim October as National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

The Board cited the expansion in the number of cybercrimes, including "malware, identity theft, phishing and spoofing, spam and other forms of fraud."
