The latest (April 2011) unemployment rate for Prince William County is 4.9 percent, compared to 5.8 percent statewide and 9.0 percent nationally. The April 2011 Prince William County rate represents a drop of 0.7 percentage points since April 2010, when the rate was 5.6 percent.

The most recent unemployment numbers confirm that the Northern Virginia economy remains one of the most resilient in the world. The combined strength of the federal government and private sector industries provides the region with a diverse and robust marketplace that generates a number of job opportunities, which keeps unemployment well below the national and state averages.

“Prince William County is located at the center of Northern Virginia, and our residents provide the highly skilled workforce needed to fill the jobs created throughout the Northern Virginia region,” said Corey A. Stewart, Chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. “We are committed to providing solutions for the federal government and private sector industries – particularly with regard to BRAC, the life sciences, data centers and government contractors – which continue to bring quality jobs to Prince William County and the rest of the Northern Virginia region.”
