Super Tuesday Weather: Sunny and Warmer in Virginia

The weather is unlikely to be a major factor in voter turnout in Super Tuesday states.

The weather Tuesday in Northern Virginia is unlikely to have a major impact on Super Tuesday turnout at the polls.

Virginia voters will be choosing between just two candidates — Mitt Romney and Ron Paul — in the Republican presidential primary. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Some areas in Monday morning, but Tuesday’s weather is expected to be sunny with a high of about 50 degrees across the region. (Wednesday's high temperature will be in the 60s, and the region could hit 70 degrees Thursday.)

Like Virginia, weather across the other nine Super Tuesday states is expected to be free of major storms.

On Super Tuesday in 2008 (on Feb. 5 — more than a month earlier than this year), the high temperature was 60 at Dulles International Airport and 65 degrees at Reagan National Airport with some clouds.

But elsewhere in the country that day, a Super Tuesday tornado outbreak impacted Ohio, Missouri, Illinois and some of the other 21 states holding primaries.

This year, just 10 states are holding primaries on Super Tuesday, but several of them will be cleaning up from last week’s storms, including Georgia, Tennessee and Ohio.

Here’s the Super Tuesday weather forecast for select cities hosting primaries and caucuses:
