Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Set For Early August
Skip the sales tax on back-to-school supplies Aug. 2-4.
Fill your cart with school supplies during the back-to-school sales tax holiday on Aug. 2-4. Qualifying purchases of school supplies at $20 or less per item and qualifying purchases of clothing and footwear at $100 or less per item will be exempt from the state sales tax during this weekend.
"Retailers may also choose to absorb the tax on other items during the holiday period, but they are responsible for paying the tax on those items to the Department of Taxation," the Virginia Department of Taxation website states.
