Snow Day Decision From Prince William County for Wednesday

Is it another snow day for local students? Find out.

Prince William County Schools will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 22.

The current forecast for Wednesday morning in Woodbridge suggests very cold temperatures as students would have been making the trip to school. The temperature could be 7 degrees, but a wind chill will make it feel like -11 degrees.

From the district:

On Wednesday, January 22, 2014, all Prince William County Public Schools will be closed due to expected inclement weather conditions in certain areas. Code red for employees. All school division activities including Professional Development sessions are cancelled. SACC will not open.

"The decision to change the school schedule is not made lightly," Superintendent Steven Walts wrote in a letter to parents this fall.

The district's transportation staff monitor roads and weather conditions in busy and remote travel areas of the county. The district also pulls information from the Virginia Department of Transportation, area police and the weather service.

"This combined information yields the best decision for the safety of everyone across our large School Division," Walts noted.
