Woodbridge Viking Invitational is Successful; Band Thanks Sponsors, Community, Participants

Woodbridge Viking Invitational (WVI) marching band competition was Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012. Read the article to find out which bands took first place.

Last weekend's Woodbridge Viking Invitational (WVI) marching band competition was a success, featuring 15 bands from throughout Central and Northern Virginia.

As host, Woodbridge Senior High School performed its show, "Music for a Darkened Theatre," as an exhibition. The featured exhibition marching band was the Marching Captains of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va. Several members of the Marching Captains -- whose show featured music from the Harry Potter movies -- are alumni of Woodbridge Senior High School.

There were five categories, or classes, in which the marching bands competed.
