Strasburg to Pitch for Potomac Nationals Friday

Second rehab start for pitcher since having Tommy John surgery

announced Tuesday that pitcher Stephen Strasburg would be taking the mound in the opener of a three-game series against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans Friday.

Strasburg had Tommy John surgery last September and posted a 2.91 ERA in his first season with the Washington Nationals. Strasburg made his first rehab debut in a game with the Hagerstown Suns in Maryland on Sunday.

In that game, Strasburg allowed one earned run on three hits over and inning and two thirds. He tossed 31 pitches of which 25 were strikes.

Gates open at Pfitzner Stadium at 5 p.m. on Friday and the first 2,000 fans will get a raffle ticket to win a game-worn autographed Strasburg jersey.

Friday is also Ian Desmond bobblehead night for the first 1,000 fans.
