Vintage Baseball Tournament at Potomac Nationals Stadium

By Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta

On Sunday, Sept. 15, the Occoquan, Woodbridge, and Neabsco (O.W.N.) Optimist Club will be holding its inaugural Vintage Baseball Tournament at the P-Nat's stadium.  This is baseball played by mid-19th century rules (e.g. no gloves).

The tournament will feature three clubs from the Mid-Atlantic Vintage Base Ball League, and one team of local players.  Games are scheduled for 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.  This is an open-house event, so show up at any time.

Tickets are $12, and free for children 12 and under, and can be purchased online here, or at the gate on game day.  This is a great opportunity for some interesting, historical, family fun -- and the stadium will be operating its concession stands.

There are still openings for sponsors, as well as for players on the local team and umpires, so please contact me if you are interested in sponsoring the event, or participating for a few innings.
