Northern Virginia Weather: Chance of Showers, Cooler Temperatures

Chance of rain is 50 percent on Monday.

Expect temperatures well below the 90s this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Those lower temperatures will come with a chance of rain, though, so be sure to bring your umbrella with you to work this week. The Capital Weather Gang reports that we could have scattered showers on Monday with an increasing chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

According to the NWS weekly forecast, the rain should break by Thursday. The weather could feature partly sunny skies from Thursday to Saturday. By Sunday, rain could return to the area with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The temperatures will be hovering around the mid-80s until Friday, when The Weather Channel forecast calls for a high of 89 degrees. Temperatures could remain in the high 80s through the weekend.
