Wegmans Donates Food to ACTS During Summer Scarcity

Food pantries have a harder time keeping shelves stocked during the summer months, as most people donate to food pantries during the holidays.

is donating 18,000 pounds of non-perishable food, dry goods, and toiletries to the Action in Community Through Service Food Pantry. The items will arrive July 26 in an 18-wheeler truck, and Wegmans employees will be on site to unload and organize the items.

"Wegmans is one of the Food Pantry’s biggest donors," Food Pantry Coordinator Katie Cobb said. "We receive food donations from them five times a week and always appreciate how friendly and helpful their employees are. During the summer months our pantry runs low on many food items and this donation from Wegmans is a huge help to make sure we can still serve our community."

This is the fourth year that Wegmans has sent a truckload of donated items. They have donated consistently since they opened the Woodbridge store in 2008.
