Prince William County Father’s Day Weekend Events
Mark your calendars for fun events happening in Prince William all weekend.
Happy Father’s Day weekend! On top of taking Dad out to a nice dinner on Sunday, there are events happening all around Prince William County that could be fun for the whole family -- spending quality time with the family is always great for Dad, right?
Here are some of the events for the whole family this weekend:
Saturday, June 14:
- U.S. Colored Troops in Richmond - Petersburg Campaign Bus Tour. Are you a history buff? Head on down to the Ben Lomond Historic Site & Old Rose Garden (10321 Sudley Manor Drive) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. This tour will focus on the impact that soldiers of the U.S. Colored Troops had in the assaults at Petersburg 150 years ago, including the Battle of the Crater. The tour will end at New Market Heights, the site where the first Medals of Honor were given to African Americans in U.S. history.
- Family Day -- Marine Corps Animals. Bring the kids to The National Museum of the Marine Corps and Heritage Center (18900 Jefferson Davis Highway) between noon and 3 p.m. for a free tour to learn about contributions that animals have made to the Marine Corps.
- Potomac River Blockade Boat Tour. Cruise along the Potomac River with the family. The tour will point out sites critical to the Confederate Army’s successful blockade of Washington D.C. Tours depart from Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge (2001 Daniel K. Ludwig Drive) at 10 a.m. Lunch will be provided.
Sunday, June 15:
- Manassas Wine and Jazz Festival. Celebrating its 10th year, the festival on Father’s Day will feature jazz artists Marcus Johnson with Dave Wilson Quartet and Night & Day. Wine tastings from award-winning Virginia wine artisans will be available for those 21 and up. The festival begins at noon on the Manassas Museum Lawn (9101 Prince William Street).
- Father’s Day Tour. Is dad a big fan of military history? Treat dad to visit Ben Lomond Historic Site, Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre or Rippon Lodge Historic Site. Fathers receive free admission.
Enjoy your Father’s Day weekend!
