Woodbridge Girls Finish Third in 4X400 Relay at New Balance Indoor Nationals
All-Americans lead 4x400 relay to one second off the state's record.
Some of Prince William County Schools' top athletes at Woodbridge High shined last weekend at the New Blanace Indoor Nationals in New York City. All-Americans Kady Badham, Olivia Coopwood, Jewel Christian, and Farrah Suber placed third in the nation in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:47, according to a release. That time is the second fastest in Virginia history — only a second off the first place. The Woodbridge High School girls also took 8th place in the 4x200 relay. Potomac Nationals To Reveal New Uncle Slam at Wegmans
Popular mascot gets makeover for 2013 season.
The Potomac Nationals will be revealing a new look for its official mascot on Saturday, Feb. 16. Uncle Slam was reportedly "injured" in the June fire at the Nationals' administration office. The P-Nats have been teasing the makeover this week on social media and will make the public unveiling Saturday at Wegmans in Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center. "Slam has been waiting all off-season to reunite with our fans and looks forward to his best season to date!" says P-Nats Vice President and General Manager, Josh Olerud. The event Saturday will run from noon until 2 p.m. Uncle Slam is expected to arrive at 12:30 p.m. to meet with fans and sign autographs. Uncle Slam's bounce house and a coloring station will also be set up.

Super Bowl: 49ers Ahmad Brooks a Former Hylton Student
The 49ers are in the Super Bowl, and Brooks' sister and a former coach remember his high school days.

Now that the 49ers are in the Super Bowl, the friends and family of linebacker and former C. D. Hylton High School student Ahmad Brooks are cheering him on. "Everybody's pulling for him, that the hometown boy does good," Brooks' high school coach Bill Brown said. Brown coached at Hylton for the school's first 11 years. Football runs in Brooks' family. Brooks' dad, Perry Brooks Sr., played for the Washington Redskins, and his older brother, Perry Brooks Jr., also played for Hylton's football team.
